My modernist pixel art series is the precursor of my transfigurations series. In both, I make use of paintings from masters of the past which are replicated thousands of times.
I start by reducing the painting to its most essential pixel form, in which it’s still vaguely recognizable, then I fill those pixels with miniatures of the painting, often several thousands of them, with hundreds of variations and glitches, in an effort to combine simplicity with infinity.
My modernist pixel art in practice can be considered an initial technical exploration that evolved into my tranfigurations. There won’t be more artwoks of this kind beyond the ones you see here.
